It was well established with last year's Huawei P30/Pro discount (I think also with the Samsung and maybe others) that even if you received a discount for an interest free repayment schedule with a plan, 2degrees did not have any requirement to keep the plan for a certain period of time, or require you to repay the discount if you cancelled early. There are currently two similar discounts for a variety of phones via PB Tech https://www.pbtech.co.nz/promotions/200-off-with-2degrees and 2degrees online webshop https://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobile/phones/ Although they largely cover the same phones, they don't seem to be quite the same as for example the Nova 5T and some of the Oppo have a greater discount with PB Tech. Maybe Noel Leeming etc have the same thing, I didn't find it if they did. Anyway the limited T&C provided by PB Tech and 2degrees just mentions repaying the balance. The only T&C I can find on the 2degrees website is https://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/termsofuse/mobile/mobile-repayment-and-trade-up/interest-free-mobile-repayment-option-terms-and-conditions/ and only mentions repaying the discount for certain ancient phones. I think this is the same T&C we were dealing with last year and although it was updated in May last year and I don't know what changed but it doesn't seemed to have affected the discount issue, nor is there any mention of any ETF. And the pay monthly plan is still without any contract. A PB Tech rep claimed on Facebook you need to keep the plan for 3 months or repay the discount, but then again I recall similar confusion last year. Have I missed something or is the situation still the same as before, i.e. you cancel on the first day of your plan if you want and keep the discount just repaying the remaining balance which includes the discount. P.S. I did ask both 2degrees and PB Tech but from the experience of others last year, I wouldn't be surprised to receive confusing responses.

2degrees Amazon Video offer
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=12210675 It stated"Taylor then said that if existing customers asked, they would get the deal." So only applied to customers that join last month? not last year? LOL

Was 2degrees offering their ultimate fibre plan for $75 a wee while ago
Stupid question i thought a while ago i saw 2degrees offering their 900/400 plan t the same pricepoint as their 100/20 plan but now the offer has gone. I might be imagining things but I am sure I saw it being discussed in forums sometime.

Fritzbox 9530 and Sonos Connect
I have my flac music files on a USB memory stick plugged into the modem/router, and with my old modem this used to work fine using a Sonos Connect and stereo combination.I've just moved to 2Degrees and received the Fritzbox 9530, but I cannot configure the modem to work with my Sonos Connect. The USB stick is treated as a NAS file server not music server, and the address details are entered into the Sonos Connect via their software. After entering the path and user details, I get the message:Sonos was unable to add the music folder. Reason: There is no shared folder '\\fritz.nas\xxxxxxx\Music' on the computer 'fritz.nas'.Or, Reason: Access to the shared folder '\\fritz.nas\xxxxxxx\Music' is deniedHaven't figured out why the different reasons crop up.Any thoughts? At the Fritz end I have; 1) created a user with NAS (only) access to the correct USB folder, 2) in Fritz!NAS created a share for the relevant folders, even though I do not think it is necessary for a local network, 3) Storage NAS enabled as are ftp and SMB on the same page.At the Sonos end the new path I'm trying to created is \\fritz.nas\xxxxxxx\Music, user name and pw the same as set up in Fritz.Win Media Player will see Fritz!Mediaserver OK, so the USB can be addressed OK.I have love/hate relationship with Sonos!

2degrees RBI / 4G adding 30ms+ latency?
I just installed 2degrees Rural Wireless Broadband at an address in Whangarei and noticed fairly high latency; 30-70ms to Auckland on 2degrees vs 7-9ms on other wireless networks in the area.It seems all traffic is going via 39.7.69.111.static.snap.net.nz [111.69.7.39] which appears to be located in the South Island? Is this normal 2degrees backhaul or is there anyway to improve routing?Router: Huawei B618 (via LAN)Connection: 2degrees (4G)APN: snapwsWAN IP Address: 111.69.238.XXPCI: 25CELL_ID: 1745926RSRQ: -8.0dBRSRP: -93dBmSINR: 2dBPLMN: 53024 Speed Down: 42.26MbpsSpeed Up: 36.77MbpsTracing route to nz-2degrees-auckland-01-10g.nperf.net [111.69.32.122]over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms homerouter.cpe [192.168.1.1] 2 35 ms 38 ms 38 ms 39.7.69.111.static.snap.net.nz [111.69.7.39] 3 45 ms 37 ms 37 ms 121.32.69.111.static.snap.net.nz [111.69.32.121] 4 42 ms 37 ms 38 ms 122.32.69.111.static.snap.net.nz [111.69.32.122]Trace complete. Cannot access IPv4 sites after switching to static IP
I started to use 2degree fibre (through Chorus) from February this year. I had my BYOD modem (HG659) set up and everything works fine then.Recently I need to work from home, but I experience several times that my skype can't share the screen with my colleagues. After some consulting, I was told I need to switch to static IP and get off CGNAT.So I called 2degree to switch. However, after the switch, I can only access several websites supporting IPv6 protocol, mostly google sites (google.com, youtube.com), and all IPv4 sites seems not accessible anymore.I tried to ping those IPv4 sites from my local computer, and I can't even get IP. so then I tried from my modem directly to ping (in the modem web interface), it also cannot get IP. In the meantime, those IPv6 sites works fine, I can get IP from both my computer and from the modem.I called several times to 2degree asking if there might have some routing problem after switching to static IP, but they insist it is my modem's (setting) problem. As compared to only losing to the skype sharing, I'd rather have my whole internet back, so I request to switch back to CGNAT. Then... everything works again.I am fairly confident the setting is fine from my modem since I didn't change anything during the switch and switch back. I can also see all IPv4 and IPv6 is connected, IP is acquired. 2degree can also confirm they can see the connection is working from their side.Does anyone know what might be the problem?I am ordering the 2degree modem now, but I am just curious why it is not working with my BYOD.Many thanks in advance.

2degrees router / WAP - Fritzbox 7390 replacement
I purchased a Fritzbox 7390 from 2degrees for my 100/20 fibre back before they were called 2degrees - Snap was it? It's worked fine for years, but I'm finding with new devices like my Surface Laptop it's not working very well. Yesterday I was on the laptop a couple of rooms from the router, getting 80Mbps down and 0.01Mbps up on 5GHz WiFi and similar on 2GHz, but 90/15 on Ethernet when I plugged in. Other devices are fine, generally, though my wife says her laptop often has problems. The WiFi channel isn't overlapping with other routers, so I'm thinking it's just time for a new router.Any thoughts on best approach? Should I:Sign up to a fixed term contract to get a new router from 2degrees, if they do this?Buy the latest Fritzbox from 2degrees?Buy a new router from somewhere else and configure it?I find it useful to have a supported router - when I messed around too much and broke it a while back 2degrees was able to remote in and fix it for me.

2degrees confirms it support of customers during COVID-19 outbreak
Just received:2degrees has outlined its approach to customer care in response to the impacts of Covid-19.CEO Mark Aue reassured customers that its mobile and broadband networks are working well, and that the national operator is very confident in its capacity to manage extra demand.'We know these are unprecedented and uncertain times for our customers, but we don't want them to worry about but staying connected. My message to all 2degrees customers today is simple, we will do the right thing by you,' said Mark Aue.Details for 2degrees customers are as follows: Data caps removed: 96% of 2degrees broadband customers are on unlimited data plans already. For those who aren't we will remove data caps until the end of June 2020 (date will be reviewed ongoing). This applies to all home and business customers.Hardship: if Covid-19 causes financial hardship to any 2degrees' customers, the company will keep you connected, wave any late payment fees and work with you through these trying times.Mr Aue stressed that the industry is critically aware that it provides an essential service and is working together, and with Government, to make a difference now, and for things that might eventuate.

2Degrees Branded Fritzbox OK to purchase on trademe?

Can't ping my Fritzbox 7490 from the internet
Hi, I can't ping my Fritzbox 7490 from the internet. Should I be able to? Just results in no response if ipv4 address pinged from phone (on cell connection) or one of those online ping utilities.I've checked, Stealth mode if disable on the Fritzbox. The bigger problem is that my RDP connection to a PC fro the internet stopped working. I tried heaps of things to diagnose it, and in the process discovered I couldn't ping the router. Tried calling 2Deg tech support, but on hold for an hour so gave up. Things I've tried to fix RDP:-Can RDP to PC from within LAN-Can http to web server on same PC from within LAN-Setup up port forwarding a few times. Actually reset Fritzbox factory settings, to start from scratch, but no luck.-Tried RDPing to internet ip address, instead of DynDNS address, but same result Any ideas what to check for next? Thanks!

2degrees 40GB cap for "Unlimited" mobile plan
Kia ora, Does anyone know if the data caps being removed for broadband will also apply to the unlimited mobile plan? As you may know 2degrees limits the speed to 1mbps after 40GB. Currently with video calling and remote working I'm using 1.2-1.8GB/day. I can see getting quite close to the 40GB limit in a month. I have an ADSL link as a backup, but 4G through 2degrees blows that away. The ADSL link isn't fast enough for multi-party video calling on Zoom, whereas it's completely seamless on 4G. I'm quite impressed actually. ADSL is fine for doing source code check-ins, but the 4G is perfect for video links and keeping the VPN running. I've bought an additional cheap 4G phone with simcard (thanks the warehouse), as a backup should I burn through 40GB before my plan renews, but I'd love to know if 2degrees have removed the data cap so I don't need to use that. Anyone? Ta in advance, A

2degrees 4G RBI 50x slower than mobile 4G to the same tower?
Since getting 2degrees 4G RBI installed a few weeks ago I was getting fairly consistent 30-40Mbps Down/Up however since the COVID-19 lockdown and the release of 2degrees uncapped data offering speeds have plummited to almost unusable 0.75Mbps Down and anywhere from 1.75-30Mbps Up.After doing some testing and locking the Huawei B618 to 4G I noticed that my Samsung Galaxy S8+ was getting 50x the speed to the same tower with similar RSRQ, RSRP & SINR.As @SaltyNZ stated in a previous thread; SaltyNZ:All the fixed wireless access traffic is treated as fixed broadband for the purposes of network management. That means that although the mobile core handles the access, it is forwarded through the fixed network infrastructure to reach the internet, rather than the mobile network gateway.I'm wondering if this is then an issue with the backhaul config (which can hopefully be improved?) rather than just tough luck overcrowding on the tower??4G Mobile Stats4G RBI Stats

Is 2Degrees UFB worth the extra cost over other providers?
You get what you pay for and I'm looking to move to Gig UFB from 100/20 so reviewing provider options.I've been with Slingshot for 14 years for home Internet and while the pricing is very competitive they've done a few things of late to brass me off. I have a cell phone with 2Degrees and the bundle discount with that makes the price more palatable but they're still close to the top-end of the price range, especially when some of the extras are added to the mix (static IP, landline #) and I could get the same discount if I switch mobile to Slingshot so...What are the key points that have 2D rated so high? What am I missing out on?While I've enjoyed a very sticky dynamic IP at Slingshot I realise that CGNAT will end up used by most, if not all, ISPs sooner or later so I will need a static IP (yes, really need, for site-site VPN and other remote access) so I won't hold that against 2D but $10/mo is at the top end, especially on a contract.IPv6 isn't a must but I'd like to be part of driving the demand for that, which Slingshot have stepped back from.BYO router is a must, I have an extensive Unifi setup spanning 2 sites, home & work, and not interested in the white-labelled options from ISPs. Also a Yealink phone setup so BYO phone/ATA too.I will ask in another thread about others' Stuff Fibre experience but I've heard good things about them in the past and the pricing is very attractive with fixed IP for one-off $50! Also taking a closer look at Voyager. Is there a clear example why I would pay $10 more each month to move from Slingshot to 2DG (even before considering landline is $15 vs $5)?CheersRichard

Has anyone managed to get a 3rd party modem/router set up?
I've been trawling through this board and the Snap board trying to find out if any snags were found with using a third party modem/router/modem+router on 2degrees. Has anyone managed?I currently have an Asus AC66U and Draytek Vigor 120 (soon to be 130 for VDSL support for future proofing) and I bridge PPPOE authentication to PPPOA for my current Vodafone connection. On 2degrees I presume the same would be required, and if I did get VDSL the bridging wouldn't be required as I would have PPPOE authentication natively, correct? Can anyone see any issues with my plan? I'm not keen to use the Fritz!box as I run VPNs on my current router and run MerlinWRT so I'm not willing to go to a stock set up.

Free $55/month prepay plan with new cellphone purchase - cancellation
About 20 days ago my wife bought a new phone and came with a scratch off code to redeem effectively a mystery bonus. This turned out to be a free $55/month monthly plan switch for 1 month. It didn't offer this to her upon entry of the code, it immediately applied it. She's let me know that her minutes no longer show in the app - as she had quite a few carried over but because on the $55/month plan they are unlimited it's now not showing a balance. Does anyone know if this balance will be reinstated when she reverts to her $19/month prepay? If she reverts now (10 days before expiry) will it come in to force now or at expiry?Attempting to cancel the rollover on $55/month now in the app says this cannot be done via the app and asks her to call 2degress (which I've encouraged her to do since she's the customer not me). This has shades of the thread about NZ Herald not allowing subscription cancellations online...While it was great she got a freeby with the phone, it appears if she didn't cancel she would be automatically charged $55.00 for the next month as that's the plan it's placed her on. This would be fair enough if she had chosen a $55/month one-off deal then forgotten to cancel, where this is different is what the code was offering was a total unknown and once she entered the promo code she was placed immediately on the plan which had potential pitfalls if someone forgot to cancel and couldn't afford an unintended charge the next month. A one off data/minutes pack would have given the same value without the risk.I get that this was probably designed as a good thing, but changing someone's plan to a more expensive one without giving them some form of heads up is a slightly backhanded promotion.
