I'm getting connection issues with my Fritz.box 7390 with the internet coming and going intermittently in the past week or so. The only sign of distress is the "Timeout during PPP negotiations" in my Fritz.box log. Is the problem on my end?

Got the phone yesterday, no wireless earbuds came with it nor any incormation as to how to claim them.

Last email I sent to 2degrees was responded to 10 days later and I don't have time to call during the day.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the process is?

Latency issue to Aus

Getting really bad latency to some services in Australia.

speedtest.net test to Vocus server in Sydney reporting 230ms ping.

I've done a traceroute to 103.4.114.233 and everything is fine until I hit 111.69.56.5 (5.56.69.111.static.snap.net.nz) where the latency jumps to over 220ms. Every hop after this one has no latency better than ~170ms.

Is anyone else noticing this? I've tried to log a support call with 2 Degrees help but the guys on the phone don't seem to understand what I mean or I can't explain it well enough!

Wifi calling has stopped working

Hi

I have been using WiFi calling for about 5 months. (Singapore S9+ and Singapore Note 9, worked out of the box, no 2 Degrees configuration installed) Works fine in NZ, PNG.

Recently been in hospital where it worked with hospital wifi.

Now back home to our 2 Degrees broadband and it won't connect on my S9. My wife's Note 9 connects sporadically

Hàs anyone else had this happen recently?

Both phones had a Samsung security update a couple of weeks ago which smells like a possible cause.

So I've had a random auto top up that appears on my credit card. How can I find out what number is associated with it?

Im on account, so is my wife and I have checked the kids phones and its not them.

Any way to determine what the number is or how I can block auto top up from my end if I dont have the device/SIM associated with the top up?

Warehouse Mobile - 4g LTE Hotspotting

Ok, this may not be the correct place for this post but there isn't a warehouse mobile forum, and warehouse mobile is 2 degrees network right.

That said my issue is related to extremely slow download speeds on the warehouse mobile network.

I have a ZTE MF910 4g hotspot (it was originally purchased from Spark but does support 700/900/1800/2100Mhz) which now contains a WH mobile sim card. I use it while I'm out in my car and connect my handset Galaxy S9 to the hotspots wifi network. I get a good signal level -30db on the wifi (2.4g).

I've set the apn details as provided by warehouse mobile (essentially apn: warehouse). I'm getting about 10-15Mb UPload but only about .04 - 1Mb DOWNload. I get similar performance if I connect a laptop or other device to the hotspot.

If I put the sim card into my phone I get download of around 10Mb which is not awesome but acceptable. I note my upload speed drops down noticeably but that doesn't bother me.

Is there some kind of throttling on hotspotting with WH mobile. If it were a signal strength issue or something like that I wouldn't expect to be getting decent upload speeds.

Any info or assistance appreciated.

Thanks

Some customers in Central Auckland may be experiencing issues with broadband services.

Chorus has acknowledged that issue is on Mt Eden Exchange and they are working on a priority to restore services.

Hi,

Just connected with 2Deg and trying to use my R7000 which isn't connecting. Have people managed to get this combination working?

Apart from PpoE, user name, password and VLAN ID are there any specific R7000 settings required?

Thanks

2degrees fibre - USG stopped getting wan address

Not sure if a provision did something and I'm trying to find the wan settings as my wan has gone offline.

I've got vlan 10 on, but should I be pppoe or dhcp on the wan connection?

I set the wan network back to pppoe and it had my username etc in there, so surely that's what it should be?

Basically just need some confirmations and what else I can look at.

2Degrees - Free Data Hour problems

Is anyone having problems with the daily free data hours on mobile?

Instead of the data being free, it consumes Carry-Over data.

2Degrees support said to start a new data session by turning flight mode on and off. This still does not always work.

The problem also occurred on my son's phone, which is unconnected to mine.

- Does this happen to anyone else?

- Is there any way to see if the free hour is active? The Data Clock app is not accurate. It says the hour is running, but that is incorrect.

My internet has got slower!!!

Down from 108 to 79 (VDSL) ... if I log a case with 2Degrees would they see previous speeds and be inclined to look into it you think ?

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this on 2degrees or if it's an Amazon problem. Not receiving the 2FA SMS to my 2degrees number. Native 022 number, not ported.Looks like the last one I successfully received was from 2829 shortcode on 10th October.Been trying the last few days but haven't got one to come through to my phone yet.

Odd throughput issues last month or so - VDSL

$

At work we have a 2Degrees VDSL connection - Bridged with a DV130 and using an ER-X as the router.

Currently waiting on Chorus to sort out build for MDU so Fibre might still be a while away.

Sync speed is around 55/11 and rock solid, and in the past we were able to max that out without issue. Recently we've been 'feeling' the internet is just not very snappy. Random long load times on pages, having to cancel and refresh pages to get them to load, and low downstream throughput - for example downloading the Win10 1903 update with the update assistant would always max the line speed out and be very solid, now the speed varies between 15 - 40mbps and is all over the show.

Generally when a speedtest it run it will still get to 50mbps or so, but we're just not seeing that throughput most of the time in the real world, when we always used to.

We have swapped the ER-X out with another but restored the config - unless there is something super weird with our ER-X config that's causing issues, it seems to be something external.

For example, the below image is with a computer downloading the 1903 update with the update assistant. previously this would be rock solid at about 51 - 52mbps and the throughput graph on the Edgerouter would be flat at that speed. You can see there that it's all over the show.

Any ideas on the best way to troubleshoot this? Thanks.

2degrees broadband gigabit users in Wellington

I'm thinking about switching to 2degrees Broadband in a few months time once my contract expires. Anyone from Wellington have 2degrees gigabit broadband and could share some speed test results from these servers: Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland, Sydney and Los Angeles.

2degrees red-faced after Commerce Commission calls it out for cheating

"Gale said an investigation showed 2degrees used a computer script to identify volunteers who were having their broadband performance measured by the contractor under a programmed called Measuring Broadband NZ. [..] Two were moved to faster plans at no cost and one was temporarily disconnected to prompt them to "contact 2degrees and discuss their broadband connection"

from Stuff

Seems like a far cry from the old days. Can't help but think that Snap would not have done this. Seems alarming as well that 2degrees was monitoring individual customers internet traffic to determine who was and was not using the broadband performance measurement service.

2degrees - IPv6 overview - How we do it

$

Update below on IPV6 Address Space allocation - 10th October 2018.

Hi All,

With the introduction of BYOD (some customers choosing not to use a 2degrees supplied Fritzbox), we've had a bunch of queries about ipv6, how we provision it, what technologies we use etc. In order to assist you with troubleshooting any other equipment you may use, the team (Thanks Aaron) have pulled together the following information.

2degrees uses Juniper equipment to terminate subscribers, checkout the following links for more information on the architecture used and the implementation overview - Basic Architecture of a Subscriber Access Dual-Stack Network and Overview of Using DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation.

2degrees uses DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation to assign IPv6 prefixes to customer CPE, the only requirement this puts on the CPE is identification and choosing a prefix for delegation.

DHCPv6 prefix delegation process

The BNG provides IPv6 prefixes available for delegation. In the case of dynamic customers this is provided by a local address-assignment pool, and for static IPv6 customers the BNG is informed of the /56 prefix to use via our RADIUS server. Even though it's a static assignment the BNG will still delegate the prefix to the CPE using DHCPv6.

The CPE requests one or more prefixes from the delegating router. The standard is a /64 allocation per LAN segment.

The BNG chooses the prefixes for delegation, and responds to the CPE.

The CPE is then responsible for the delegated prefixes.

CPE WAN link

Below are the methods we support:

Link-local IPv6 address - The link-local address is provisioned by the appending the interface identifier negotiated by IPv6CP with the IPv6 link-local prefix (fe80::/10).

DHCPv6 prefix delegation - The CPE can use the prefix it receives from the BNG to assign an IPv6 address to the interface between the CPE and BNG. A Fritzbox modem uses this method by default.

Fritz configuration example (in lab environment)

This is the default setup and will establish a native IPv6 connection, the below configuration would be more specific

Here you can see the IPv6 address assigned to the CPE-BNG interface and the prefix that was delegated.

The Fritz in its default setup will assign the first available /64 to the LAN segment.

For our dynamic subscribers we allocate a /48 or /56 address space depending on the version of code they are running (due to our currently upgrades in progress), for static customers we allocate a /56 address space. Upgrades are planned to be completed in the first week of November 2018 which will see us standardise on /56 for all subscribers.

Data hour x2

I like the data hour per day more than free data over the weekend. & Thanks to 2Deg, I now have 2 hours. I used my free hour yesterday & saw that another free hour was available. Was confused & thought it might be a glitch. There was no notification in the app of this promotion. & then I forgot to try & use the 2nd free hour. ??

Two hours free data for summer:
Fair use policy applies. Max speeds reduce to 1 Mbps after 40GB/mth & hotspotting speeds may be reduced further during periods of network congestion.

If you have an active current Prepay or Pay Monthly Plan and register on the Data Clock app by 09/01/20 you will get 2 hours of free data per day until 29/02/20.See www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobile/data-clock/  for details on registering for the Data Clock app. Free data hours do not carry over and will expire if they aren’t used each day. Not available in conjunction with any other promotions. 2degrees may amend or cancel at any time.T&Cs apply. See 2degrees.nz for full T&Cs.
