Hi GuysApologies if this is asked somewhere else but I cannot seem to find the info anywhere.2Degrees gave me a Fritz!Box 7490 which came setup as my main router. Fritz!box is plugged directly into the ONT. It works well but I actually would rather like to use my previous DD-WRT Linksys E3000 Router as my main device instead. Fritz!Box just does not cut it for me. Can anybody please direct me to where I can obtain the PPP Encapsulation setting etc? Also saw somewhere that I may need to change some vlan settings?Any ideas. Or bigger question, will it work without the Fritz!Box?Cheers

Does the ASUS RT-AC86U work on 2degrees fibre?
I bought an ASUS RT-AC86U and signed up for 2degrees fibre (I've just moved houses, have never had a fibre connection before). I got an email from 2degrees yesterday saying the connection was setup, but for the life of me I can't get the router to connect to the internet. I've tried the various guides I've found, and setup the VLAN tagging under the LAN->IPTV section as everyone says to do. I've seen people on Geekzone saying that this router works on fibre with their ISP, but none of them seem to be on 2degrees...Has anyone got one of these routers working on 2degrees? Exactly how is it configured?

Receiving texts from 2degrees as <<Content not supported>>
I have a GPS tracker device that is programmed by SMS. I have been using the tracker with a vodafone SIM and everything appears to work fine. When I changed to 2degrees SIM in the tracker, the text response from the tracker on my Samsung Note8 appears as "<<Content not supported>>". The tracker receives SMS texts fine, and updates programs etc as expected. I swap back to a vodafone SIM in the tracker and texts start appearing as normal. I have sent a help request to 2degrees but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas? CheersBarry

Can 2degrees system completely disable voicemail?
2degrees has options to block someone to leave voice messages, while someone reaches the voicemail. But does it offer the option to complete disable the voicemail, so no voicemail at all, meaning callers won't reach the voicemail as there is no voicemail, just like other mobile providers do?
↧
Increasing the voicemail diversion delay
I have an on-account 2degrees mobile. The time allowed before it diverts an incoming call to voicemail is too short. I have seen traffic about arcane sequences of digits to change this delay starting with **61.. , but it's obviously provider specific.I'm wondering if anyone knows what this is for 2 degrees. Thanks,R

New 2D UFB connection - VOIP Error 403
My new 2D UFB connection went active this morning however the VOIP line isn't active yet. FRITZ!Box 7560 reporting error 403, specifically "Registration of Internet telephone number 03339XXXX failed. Remote site reports reason for error 403"The old line to TEL 1 ONT is already inactive (Spark). Is this supposed to take sometime to get up and running or has something gone wrong? Thanks.

Gig Fibre Upload Speeds
I've recently been testing my newly minted Gig Fibre connection. There's nothing quite like seeing 100MB/s coming down via the Internet! However, one area which seems to be lacking (at least for me) is international upload speeds to anywhere other than Aus.Now, I realise that there are a lot of elements involved in a connection between me and an overseas server, however, I get pretty decent download speeds, but disproportionately abysmal upload speeds: Aussie is pretty good:One of the major attractions with Fibre for me was access to significantly better upload speeds, but I'm pretty disappointed in the speeds I'm getting in this regard. What are the rest of you seeing in terms of international upload speeds?

If you think Vodafone's billing system is bad, wait until you become a 2degrees customer
So I signed up to 2degrees' $55 plan, one for my wife, one for myself on the 30 March this year, because they were doing a promotion for 50% off for six months during the Easter weekend.During the sign up process, the sign up page did say the discount may not apply until the second bill. I am OK with that. The first bill was in fact non discounted, no problem. Second bill arrived today, full price again! $55.Just called 2degrees, explained to the gent that both me and my wife are having the same problem (a bill of $55 each). I explained to him that I signed up on the 30 March with the promotion, and I asked to have this month's bill regenerated, with the 50% discount, and I will pay the remaining 50%. I also asked him to make sure the remaining discounts will be applied automatically, so I don't need to call (and listen the same music again).--> funny thing about the music, part of the lyric said "we are back to square one". This does sound like my current situation. The gent said this cannot be done. He needs to forward this to another team and they will apply the discount in a few days time, so my next bill will have the first discount. And I have to pay this month's bill in full.I explained to him this is unacceptable, I was promised the discount will be applied from the second bill, at the latest. I do not want to wait till the next month for the discount to be applied (who knows whether I will have the discount applied in the next few days on next month?). And with customer service and/or billing system problem like this, I want to get my six discounts ASAP, so I can switch sooner if I want. Don't want to wait an extra month for this.@2degreesCare , can you help? I believe among Spark, Vodafone and 2degrees, you guys should have the latest and greatest billing system at your disposal? How come you cannot adjust a bill that was generated with error by you guys in the first place? And insist the customer should pay a bill with error? Also, I ask the gent to email me the case number / reference number for my case, and my wife's case. He said this cannot be done and I need to write it down with pen and paper.@2degreesCare, please help.

Insanely slow 2Degree data speeds when roaming onto the Vodafone cell site on Great Barrier Island
We visit Great Barrier Island a few times each year, and being 2D mobile customers, we roam onto Vodafone's cell site as 2D don't have coverage in Claris, or maybe anywhere on Great Barrier. In the past we've received fairly reasonable data speeds, but I've noticed during the last few visits in the last 3 months, our data speeds when roaming there have dropped to around 0.9Mbits/sec (measured using the Ookla app). No 3G or 4G indication or even H+. This has been confirmed with 2x phones and a wireless 3G router. Two other visitors at the house with VF SIM cards received 100Mb+.It seems that 2D customers are being treated as 3rd class citizens, and I wonder if this is normal or widespread when roaming. The current speeds are so bad, it looks like we're going to look at jumping to the red company I despise. Does anyone know if this is normal or are VF pulling a swifty? The 2D maps show our area to have "3G Boosted" performance. Phones being used are Galaxy S7, S4, and S8.

Handset will not connect to LTE in Petone, but everywhere else it does
so i have an odd issue. My new Sony Xperia XA2 (H3123) will not connect to LTE in my home suburb of Petone, Lower Hutt. If I drive to Lower Hutt or back into Wellington, it will connect at LTE. My previous phone Nexus 5x did not have this issue.2 other people in our house are on 2degrees and I am the only one having this issue.Other point to add, the phone was bought in USA last month when my Nexus 5x ended up having the boot looping issue and i was forced to buy a new phone on the spot. The Xperia XA2 is compatible with networks in NZ and is unlocked. Using the app "Network Cell Info", i can see the phone will not connect to the 3 closest cell sites to me. Also if i force my phone to use LTE (via the secret test menu), it will connect to a cell tower in Wellington CBD and then only give me 1 weak bar. Any ideas? I have an issue logged with 2degrees. If i insert a friends Spark SIM into my phone, the phone is fine. If i insert my SIM card into flat mates phone, no issue on their iPhone 10.

Dear 2degrees....
Dear 2degrees,So, recieved my Fibre option letter from Chorus today. Totally excited. Look at all the fibre options available and 2degrees is quite well positioned price wise. So I call up to get my VDSL upgraded. And promptly get told that as an existing customer I am not eligible for any discounts. While I can understand that being a company line I can't see it really being upheld. I've been a well paying customer for over 5y mobile + broadband. The lest you could do once in a while let me partake in a discount. Basically now you've just about mad EVERY other fibre provider more attractive and you will lose me as a customer. Mobile & broadband are a package discount at 2degrees, which usually makes it competitive. So if you lose my broadband you now also risk me going to another mobile provider. Are you (i.e. decision makers) really not interested or are you convinced that the hassle of a switch is enough to keep me? Just want to make sure I understood this correctly. I don't have any issues with 2degrees and would actually prefer to support them but I do think I'm being taken for a ride.CheersOliver

Routing Issues after Static IP assignment
Recently switched to 2degrees UFB (from Bigpipe) and ordered a static IP. After the static IP was assigned about a week ago, I've encountered some weird routing issues affecting certain sites. Pretty much excluded every possible local cause I can think of.Symptoms:Affected sites fail to load (timeout)App updates/downloads from Google Play store on multiple Android devices fail (timeout)In the packet captures of the above, no response is seen from the affected IP (just SYNs from the client until timeout)Some affected sites have been unavailable intermittentlyAffected sites/servers:trademe.co.nz (intermittent, working at time of writing) ---> 202.162.72.2 radionz.co.nz (intermittent, working at time of writing) ---> 103.14.3.1wn016-fm2.clnz.net (nz.archive.ubuntu.com, ftp.nz.debian.org) ---> 202.8.44.105 NOTE: only consistently broken IPUnknown Google IP(s) -- haven't been able to pin down exact IPUnknown 2D IP: 202.124.127.14Setup:2Degrees UFB connection (900/400 PPPoE)pfSense FW (minimal FW rules, no other modules)Juniper/HP Gigabit switches to devices, UniFi AP for WifiExcluded problems:DNS? Resolution working fine, correct records, match external tests, can reproduce issue using IPs directly.Firewall? Nothing being blocked, adding allow rules had no effect. Packets leave WAN interface without issue, no reply traffic received.Local network/hardware/software? Multiple devices/OS/hardware/connection combos affected. Resetting FW to defaults had no effectIssue with remote server? No issues with any of the above when testing from external locations (work, 2D LTE, AU VPS etc.)MTU? Problems persist regardless of link MTU of PPPoE connection (1492/1500/1508 makes no difference)General issue? Haven't noticed any issues with sites other than the above. No speed issues, etc.Why I think its a routing/ISP issue, not local:All of the affected sites have worked fine from anywhere outside my home UFB connection (even my 2D LTE connection)Issue seemed to have started after switching to a static IP (which happens to be a 202.124.x.x address)Total absence of any errors/return traffic from affected IPs suggests routing blackhole or FW block.Has anyone else had similar issues in the last week or so? Please let me know if you have any ideas!Cheers!

Possible routing issue? - hostpapa.com
We've got a few domains/sites and email with hostpapa.com and yesterday and today on a 2Degrees connection (and Orcon connection too actually, but I can't actively test on that connection) we have had very patchy email connectivity (server not found errors in email client etc) and not always able to load the sites, this morning we've got nothing - can't load the sites and can't receive email. The odd thing is on a Spark connection, it works perfectly. I've done trace routes to www.hostpapa.com on both connections, results are below. Seems like the 2D traffic isn't getting out of the country at all - anyone else happen to have seen any issues, or has any ideas? 2Degrees:Tracing route to www.hostpapa.com [104.25.5.108]over a maximum of 30 hops:1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.12 52 ms 50 ms 51 ms 69.7.69.111.static.snap.net.nz [111.69.7.69]3 49 ms 52 ms 54 ms snap1.ape.nzix.net [192.203.154.120]4 42 ms 43 ms 49 ms cloudflare.ape.nzix.net [192.203.154.51]5 42 ms 41 ms 43 ms 104.25.5.108 Spark:Tracing route to www.hostpapa.com [104.25.5.108]over a maximum of 30 hops:1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms home.gateway.pace.net [192.168.1.254]2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms home.gateway.pace.net [192.168.1.254]3 19 ms 19 ms 25 ms 125-239-244-1-adsl.bb.spark.co.nz [125.239.244.1]4 * * * Request timed out.5 30 ms 31 ms 30 ms ae8-10.akbr6.global-gateway.net.nz [122.56.116.5]6 54 ms 31 ms 31 ms ae7-2.akbr7.global-gateway.net.nz [122.56.119.53]7 74 ms 56 ms 55 ms xe0-0-1.sgbr3.global-gateway.net.nz [202.50.232.110]8 55 ms 54 ms 54 ms ae7-10.sebr4.global-gateway.net.nz [122.56.127.214]9 56 ms 81 ms 70 ms 13335.syd.equinix.com [45.127.172.154]10 108 ms 54 ms 61 ms 104.25.5.108

IPv6 not working on Edge Router Lite - works fine on Fritzbox
Hi We've had some discussions back and forward on the Ubiquiti Edgerouter Tutorial thread below. https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=66&topicid=205740&page_no=22#2048920 Seems two of us are having issues when using the same config setup as a known working IPv6 connection. The working connection has static IP, the two that aren't working don't have a static IP setup.Prefix-length is /56 MTU is 1500 Firewall is allowing icmpv6 and 546 and 547When i had prefix of /48 devices would receive a IPv6 address but they couldn't route traffic at all, not even the edge router. Any thoughts on what the issue could be?

Fraudulent Toll Charges
I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the following issue on 2Degrees home phone plus.Toll calls have been made from my phone to France from Saturday morning until early Monday morning. The calls are short and I have been charged $5 each time. Totalling just over $400.The strange thing is that no one in this house has ever made a call to France.I received a text message from 2degrees at 9am this morning. They advised there had been high toll call usage and wanted to check if these were genuine.I called 2degrees and advised they were not genuine. Only to be told that I will still have to pay the toll charges. As the calls were made from my account.I have spoken to a supervisor who will talk to accounts.I really would have thought there would be a system in place to detect abnormal usage. With a toll bar applied until confirmation is received from the user. The explanation from 2degrees is that someone has used a brute force method to gain access to the modem. Via remote access. They have factory reset the modem. This will supposedly prevent any further charges. I find this a bit hard to believe. Although I have a toll bar in place now.Does this sound familiar to anyone?
