Just thought I'd get a feel for what others think of this. I've been a happy 2degrees mobile user for several years now and have successfully encouraged friends and family to move over as well. This has primarily been due to the offers/savings and as I've never had to deal with any issues, I can't comment on customer support experience (let's face it, that's always a mixed bag and the general gist of it is that telecommunications companies are the worst at just that). Anyway, I've been with Spark for my phone and Internet for 20+ years and figured I could save a bit with 2degrees (plus consolidate). I have currently got VDSL but the 2degrees website says I cannot get VDSL at my address. No problem I thought...I'll ring them and advise that I already have VDSL with Spark and it'll just be a matter of switching. Not quite. I understand they won't risk offering poor quality but I wast told no I can't get VDSL (even though I explained that I already have VDSL with another provider at the same address). Anyway, second, third and fourth attempts via phone and e-mail. I explained that I am with another provider and am getting 20-25Mbps download speed and 10+Mbps upload speeds. They still maintained that I cannot get it because the quality would be too poor and I won't get VDSL speeds. Any suggestions? For now I figured I'll just stick to Spark and pay a bit extra. Didn't seem worth the time and energy chasing 2degrees when I'd like to think they'd be wanting new business (be it a small amount I guess). Just disappointed that they did not bother at all. Seems like they're just reading what's in front of them without truly looking into it. Poor front line support but that's my 2cents.

Poor network coverage in Hoon Hay (Downing Street)
Hello,We moved in this area recently from St Albans, and have been struggling to get proper signal as our calls continue to disconnect. Usually we get 'E' (EDGE) network with 2 bars and on some occasions 'H' (HSPA) with 2-3 bars if we are lucky.Unfortunately, this is the case with my wife's phone too though she is on a differdnt (skinny) network. In St Albans we had faster speed on mobile network than wifi and I coild watch videos online, do video chat, and other high data streaminv stuff. However, in Hoon Hay we struggle to open even geekzone website. Is it normal in the Hoon Hay area? What are our options to get better connectivity?Much appreciate your help in advance. Vinny

Can't receive calls from Vodafone mobiles
I wonder if anyone has any ideas about this one - I changed from a Nexus 5 to a Nexus 6 just after Christmas, so transferred my 2degrees number to a nano sim. The only problem is that apparently I can't receive calls from Vodafone mobiles. I only noticed this after a couple of weeks when I realised I hadn't received a couple of txts from my wife's phone. I assumed that somehow I had caller-blocked her, but after checking all settings (and deleting her contact and making a new one) that didn't seem to be the case.A bit of further testing showed that I was able to send and receive calls to 2degrees or Spark numbers, and although I was able to call or txt Vodafone numbers, the reverse was not true. Just to double-check that it wasn't a caller-blocking issue I checked with a Vodafone number that had never been in my contacts list with the same result - basically txts never arrive, and any phone calls go straight to a voicemail that I never receive.I called 2degrees a couple of weeks ago and gave them some specifics, including the times of an instance when a Vodafone number had tried to contact me, and a tech rang me back and said that things looked fine on their end and that he was going to get Vodafone to do something (I had originally ported my number across from Vodafone several years ago). I left it a week and checked again today, but the issue is still continuing - I called 2degrees and they said that the notes on my file just said for me to contact Vodafone now if I was still having problems. So - before I register a problem with Vodafone (which as I'm not a mobile customer of theirs could be a bit tricky), I thought I would see if anyone had any suggestions about what could be causing the problem. The annoying thing is that I will definitely be missing other calls and txts from Vodafone users that I don't know are trying to contact me, and as far as they are concerned their txt/voice message has been left successfully (no "unable to deliver" txts are sent). As my wife's headed out of town for a few days with my tester Vodafone mobile, I was thinking of picking up a new prepay Vodafone SIM for checking purposes, and maybe a new 2degrees sim and trying to swap to that. Unfortunately I don't have another nano-sim phone to swap my nexus-6 sim into, but I'm pretty sure it's not a device issue as I can't see how my phone could tell what network callers are from.

Latest Fritzbox 7490 firmware?
What is the latest firmware endorsed by 2degrees? When I signed up I updated the firmware to 6.30 but it had some issues. 2degrees told me it wasn't supported by them so I tried and failed to switch back to 6.20. Concerned the "issues" I had may have affected the DLM on the 998 rollout I switched back to my old HG630/R7000 set up. Got a huge increase with 998 so I'm reluctant to change "what ain't broke" but I'm wondering if 2degrees has updated the version of supported firmware. Thanks

Is 2D shaping usenet traffic?
Hi, for about 2 days, my 100/20 UFB connection taps out at exactly 50mbit for NNTP usenet traffic.I thought it was my provider, so I changed providers, I thought it was my client, so I changed clients, I thought it was my computer, so I used a different one... no change 50mbit max exactly. PS - I'm not using wireless, and I can still get 100mbit for other traffic. Anyone else experienced this? Thanks,

Losing faith in 2degrees.
Hello, Usually I'm just one to lurk but I've deiced to vent my frustration with 2degrees.I've been a customer with Snap for a long time now, I signed up with a friend because he was working there at the time. For the most part I never had a issue with snap and if there ever was a slip up they were very fast and fixing it and helpful in explaining the cause and so on. Recently though now that they have become part of 2degrees I've had issue after issue with has left me disappointed and considering different options to provide me the services I need. My latest issue has been the connection of my internet and phone services. We moved from a house we were renting in a new home I have just purchased, I understand dates that 2degrees can and will differ the the actual time chorus will give them. We were told our new connection would up and running on the 18/12/15, the date me moved into the new house but later found out that it would be connected on the 31/12/15. We had told the many different operates we had spoken to that we had no cell phone reception at our new house and that until we had our new landline we would be unreachable. We were never provided with or offered a vdsl router until I called and asked about it, the person we spoke to about our connection had no idea if we were connected to vdsl or adsl and that our phone line was connected to our old house. We eventually get a new router on the 11/1/15 and can connect to the internet but our phone line still wasn't work. After more calls and people still not knowing what was going on I get a text saying our connection would be done on the 22/1/16. Now on the 4/2/16 we can call people from our phone but nobody can call us, its just doesn't work. 2degrees told me that the connection had never been completed and I shouldn't even be able to connect to the internet? On top of all this we are still being billed from our old adsl plan and have been capped, we signed up for a unlimited vdsl plan and I still have a 150gb cap from my old plan. I was told that it would roll over to the new plan at the beginning of the month because we had already paid for our adsl plan for that month so it wouldn't change over. Today I again check my account summary to find I am still on a capped adsl plan even though I've been using a vdsl connection for a month now. Where do I even begin with 2degrees now? I don't even want to call them to try and sort it out because each time I speak to them I get a different answer or nobody knows the answer. They were ready to hand out a extra 300gb of data to me but that was it, I should be on a unlimited connection to begin with, there wasn't even a attempt to change the plan to its current or anything as such.

When is 2Degrees not 2Degrees
The answer is when you are on a old Snap plan. I joined 2degrees mobile on a $29.95 monthly plan thinking, since i was on 2Degrees Broadband plan i would get the $10 a month off my plan as stated on the Website"If you're on 2degrees Pay Monthly & Broadband, you'll get $10 off your monthly Broadband bil". I rang up 2degrees to tell them only to be told that since i was on a old Snap plan i dont qualify for the discount, even though im a 2degrees broadband customer. They said i had to cancel my plan and join the new 2gegrees broadband plan which worked out to be the same price. I wish they made this clear on the website before i joined the mobile monthly plan. Has anyone else come across this policy.

Once Chorus installs a new connection, how long until it becomes active?
Morning everyone.Guy from Chorus was just outside setting up my new connection. He has since gone and I don't have any internet. Just wondering what the wait time bis for the connection to become active as such? I'm guessing a few hours give or take, but I have no idea. Maybe it's meant to be instantly but something went wrong. Thanks!

Fritz!Box 7390 and QoS Tagging
Wasn't sure if this should go here, or the VoIP, or router forum.I have a Fritz!Box 7390 sitting behind my main router. Fritz is configure to "share an existing Internet connection", so is just on the network for VoIP.I wish to setup QoS on my main router, but when I examine the VoIP traffic I notice that traffic originating from the Fritz isn't tagged as DSCP 24 & 46 (SIP & RTP).How do I get the Fritz to tag the outbound VoIP traffic? Thanks

2degrees/snap voip phone crackle/dropouts (over UFB)
We have had crackling/dropouts on the snap/2degrees voip phone service for around 6 months or so.I thought it was our phone, which was dropped, so we threw it out but the replacement was no better.Today I found an old corded phone to plug directly into the fritz voip port but the dropouts were still occurring. So, it was either the fritzbox or 2degrees. Gave 2degrees a call, and it is something they know about and they are looking at fixing this from their end although it could take a few days. In case anyone else has this same issue, give them a call.

How long should I wait for my UFB upgrade request?
As the 2Degrees address checker said I could get UFB, I requested the upgrade from VDSL to UFB. This was midway through November 2015.I have called several times for an update and the last time I did this (3 weeks ago) I was told that someone would text me when they are ready.I guess my question is: How long is normal to wait for this upgrade?I know Christmas was in the middle, but it is coming up to 4 months. Did it take other people that long to get their UFB?When I started my order, my dog didnt have his beard!

What happened to 2degree's name on phones?
Has anyone else noticed it's changed recently to "NZ Communications New Zealand - 2degrees", what was wrong with just "2degrees"?Or is this a Auckland only thing.

Is 2degrees is going to follow Spark with the Speed Upgrade
I wonder if 2 Degrees is going to follow Spark with the Speed Upgrade from 30/10 to 100/20 at no extra cost, they say it is because there is no difference in the wholesale cost. It sure would be nice.

Fritzbox 7490 - filter required?
So Im about to move and have signed up with 2 degrees for ADSL (sigh, after 5 years of fibre). The fritzbox arrived today without an ADSL filter. Is there meant to be one in the box? Or does the fritzbox have one built in?Given our new build does not cater for landline (the only jack is in the comms cabinet, purely for data) do I need a filter?

not getting full access when roaming on Vodafone
So I got this pop up on my phone when I was in Queenstown over the long weekend. I guess 2 degrees doesnt get full data rights when it's busy. I was at the Fat Freddy's Drop concert at Peregrine winery No complaints, I just thought it was interesting

Interesting 4g/LTE issue on 2degress with SaaS product
So at work I look after a SaaS (web based via browser) product at work which is used on a number of different devices (ipads, android etc) over both 3g and 4g/LTE. Everything works fine until I have someone try and use it over 4g/LTE on 2degrees. The software I support has an offline function that if cell data/wifi is not available it will cache it till there is a connection. What we are finding is that if the user has 2degrees on LTE/4g then the software will go into offline mode even with full reception. Other website/apps still load however and switching LTE off (going back to 3g) then the software will work again. Now we don't have this problem on any other telco.Under 3G: Spark, vodafone, 2degrees all workUnder 4G: Spark, vodafone work fine, 2degrees makes the software report offline and cache the data. Is 2degrees doing something funny on their 4g network which other telco's are not doing? The software is "Oracle field service cloud". Was known as ETAdirect

Faulty Fritzbox - changed ISP's
Hi all,Just trying to see where I stand regarding a faulty Fritzbox that I purchased through Snap in 2013 for $395. I tried to contact 2degrees support, however I have not received a reply from them.Last week I started having issues with my Fritzbox and went through all the usual troubleshooting steps. I've determined the issue is with the Fritzbox itself, and I emailed 2degrees outlining my issues with the router, and what I have done to rule out any other possibilities. I've also tried another router, which does not give me the same issues. For the past 2 years, I've used the Fritzbox on a different ISP with the same config and it's worked fine, it's just suddenly started to give me these issues.I guess my question is, where do I stand legally? Since I didn't get this router for free through Snap (I paid $395 at the time), does the CGA apply here. I'm personally disappointed in not even receiving a reply from 2degrees, but I suspect it's because I'm currently not a paying customer. On the Fritzbox website http://fritzbox.com.au/faq.html they claim that it has a manufacturing warranty of 5 years so all I asked 2degrees to do is to deal with the RMA process, so I can get a new or repaired router. Does the CGA still apply in this case since I'm not a current 2degress customer?Cheers in advance

Mobile: Data packs?
If you do not purchase a Data pack, and accidentally enable data on you phone, will it consume your balance or just not work?I believe the former has just occurred to me and I'm pretty annoyed.
